HONOR PEOPLE

“Regard (treat with honor, due obedience, and courtesy) your father and mother, that your days may be long in the land the Lord your God gives you.” Exodus 20:12 (AMPC)

What does it mean to honor people? To me it means to show others respect, love, kindness and to share our joy. When we honor someone we can be confident and know that we are doing the right thing. The bible talks about honoring your mother and father so that your days may be long on the earth. It is important to do that when they are alive because when they die, it is a different kind of honor we give them, we pay respects and we say the nicest things about them because that’s what we remember. We can no longer honor them the way we would if they were alive.

Honoring people means not only to honor your parents, we should also honor our loved ones including your spouse, children, grandchildren, in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends and just people in general. We can change our circumstances by living the right way, but again it’s a choice we make. How will you choose to live your life, will you give people honor and respect? Or will you just continue living the way most of the world does?

Ways you can honor people:
  • Start with LOVE and RESPECT.
  • Be KIND.
  • Spread JOY, HOPE, HAPPINESS.
  • Share your FAITH.
  • Treat others the way you would want to be treated.
  • Be supportive instead of judgemental.
  • Give compliments to others.

We live in a world today where people are almost afraid to talk to others, we definitely can not see people smiling, some people are scared to have anyone close to them or shake someone’s hand. Things are changing rapidly around us, we need to take control of our circumstances and situations and turn all the negative into positive. We have the power within us to do so, we can start by honoring the people within our community. Let’s spread LOVE instead of fear.

May God bless you today, and may you feel the love of others around you!
